Coaching Services
Coaching and psychotherapy are not the same service, and understanding the difference is important.
Psychotherapy focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health concerns. Coaching is not mental health treatment and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or address mental health disorders. Coaching services are not a substitute for psychotherapy, psychiatric care, crisis services, or other mental health treatment.
While coaching and psychotherapy often explore similar topics, they serve different purposes. Many goals commonly associated with coaching—such as improving relationships, navigating life transitions, increasing confidence, clarifying priorities, or making important decisions—can also be addressed in psychotherapy.
The primary difference is that psychotherapy involves the treatment of mental health concerns, while coaching focuses on personal growth, accountability, goal achievement, and future-oriented change for individuals who are not seeking mental health treatment.
Who Coaching May Be Appropriate For
Coaching is often a good fit for individuals who are not seeking mental health treatment but would like support with goal-setting, decision-making, accountability, personal growth, relationship challenges, life transitions, professional development, or other future-oriented concerns.
Coaching is often best suited for individuals who are generally doing well in their day-to-day lives but want support creating meaningful change, navigating a decision, increasing accountability, or moving toward a specific goal.
Unlike therapy, coaching is generally focused less on diagnosing problems and more on identifying practical strategies, clarifying priorities, and creating meaningful action.
My Approach to Coaching
While coaching differs from psychotherapy, my approach remains rooted in curiosity, accountability, and helping clients examine the assumptions, expectations, and narratives that may be influencing their decisions.
Coaching is not about me telling you what to do. It's about helping you think more clearly, make intentional choices, and move toward goals that align with the life you want to create.
Just as in therapy, I ask a lot of questions. Together, we'll explore what's getting in the way, identify obstacles, challenge unhelpful assumptions, and create a plan for moving forward. My role is not to provide answers, but to help you gain clarity, confidence, and direction.
Coaching services are available to both individuals and adult couples.
Coaching services are not psychotherapy and are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.
